Into the Fold is a creative project that investigates the lineage between teachers and students of mokuhanga, the links that are made, and ultimately, how we have all been welcomed “into the fold.”  Branching off from the project, (un)fold, by wood+paper+box collaborative (Katie Baldwin, Mariko JesseYoonmi Nam), each member of this collaborative in turn invited three additional artists into the fold: Sarah Hulsey, Fuko Ito, and Mia O.  We will each create our own mokuhanga works that interpret the idea of folding/unfolding, inclusion, and portability through images, materials, and structures.  As we make our own individual works, we will communicate our inspiration and progress by sharing updates, processes, and images on this shared blog.
