Folding and symmetry

In thinking of an idea for this project, I was interested in the idea of folding as a way to create a one-to-one correspondence of points on the two halves of the page. An image and its mirror image can be matched up so that the fold acts like an axis of reflection.

Originally I was thinking of combining moku hanga with etching for line work, as seen in the drawing above. After several tests, though, I decided that the central idea of symmetrical reflection was best conveyed with moku hanga alone.
