Bokashi

For the book cover, I decided to carve a block with a strand of ribbon. I used two colors — dark red and light pink (and water) — and used bokashi to suggest the values of the folds.

I printed the same block twice and this helped the bokashi become more smooth and vibrant in color.

Once the prints were dry, I also did Ura-uchi (裏打ち/backing prints with thin washi) before using them for my book cover.

The above image is after I wrapped the book board with my prints, about to tuck them in for the night.
